The President Has “Alienated Millions”

The president, the New York Times reports this morning in its lead story, has experienced “bruising political battles” that have “alienated millions…. Having won a narrow victory, his critics say, he broke his promises of an inclusive government and repeatedly demonized his opposition as traitors.”

Oh, wait. You didn’t think the Times had changed its spots and was describing our president, did you? Not a chance, since the foreign correspondents it sends to those strange and alien lands across the Hudson are not so perceptive. No, the president being so accurately described here is now ex-president Morsi of Egypt, but that description makes clearer than the Times’s domestic coverage why our president saw such a kindred spirit in Morsi and tried, with guns and money and a stony silence toward his opposition, to prop him up.

Say What?
