California Officials Defy The Law

Adam Sparks, helpfully identified as a “conservative activist,” has an informative OpEd in the San Francisco Chronicle today that provides chapter and verse of a long list of California officials, starting with the Attorney General and the Mayor of San Francisco, who continue to defy the bar on racial preferences that Proposition 209 added to the state constitution.

One of his many observations:

Over at least the last 40 years, [San Francisco has] become one of the nation’s most liberal and most minority-friendly cities. The city is now arguing that we have a history of blatant racial discrimination that now requires us to ignore Proposition 209, which itself bans racial discrimination. The proper cure for this repugnant “history” of discrimination is to first right the wrongs to those specific discriminated individuals. The city officials who have perpetrated these alleged civil rights crimes should be identified by the city attorney’s office, then prosecuted and convicted by the district attorney’s office.

Say What?
