The estimable Michael Barone takes issue with Norman Ornstein and others who wishfully are comparing Obama to Harry Truman, noting the sorts of votes Truman received in 1948 that are unlikely to go to Obama. Among them:
Truman won many votes from Democrats still upset about the Civil War. Few such votes will be available to Obama or congressional Democrats in 2012.

Because they’re now all Republicans and STILL upset about ‘The Lost Cause’.
