Although racial preferences are, after all, preferences based on race, they are still often justified as necessary to help the still-disadvantaged descendants of slaves.
According to a recent report in the Journal of Blacks in Higher Education’s Weekly Journal, however, “Less Than One in Four African Americans Entering Higher Education Today Are First-Generation College Students.”
Of course, not all “African Americans” who receive racial preferences are descendants of slaves or, for that matter, even Americans.
