AA Officer Sent To Anti-Discrimination Training…

The wives of former New York Mets players George Foster and Bobby Bonilla claim they were denied admission to a park in Greenwich, Conn., because they are black and Puerto Rican, and with the assistance of the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights they filed a complaint against the town.

Last Tuesday, the CHRO proposed that Greenwich Affirmative Action Officer Kelly Houston and other employees in the town’s Human Resources and Parks departments be required to attend anti-discrimination classes, as a means of resolving the dispute….

“I think it’s fair,” said R. Hamisi Ingram, CHRO’s executive director. “It comes after a full investigation.” According to the settlement offer, Houston and other town workers will be asked to attend a 10-hour anti-discrimination training class in June. The training entails raising awareness about prejudice and discrimination based on race, sex, age and similar issues, according to Ingram. The CHRO must approve the seminar

I wonder what “issues” are “similar” to race, sex, and age.

The class is in June? Why so late?

After all, if there is really discrimination going on, with real violation of civil rights and civil liberties, shouldn’t the classes be held immediately. You know, to prevent such incidents from reoccurring before the discriminators have been appropriately sensitized.

That may be the least informative article I’ve ever read. Given the nature of journalism, I suspect this means the events could only be interpreted as racially based by people who refuse to admit other possibilities exist. Otherwise the incident would be described in detail.
