One That Almost Got Away…

I almost missed Washington University’s announcement last month that it will now let members of any race apply for scholarships in a program that had been limited to blacks.

As recently as weeks before the announcement university officials had insisted that the program was legal, but they changed their minds after a campus visit by staff members from the Dept. of Education’s Office of Civil Rights. With what sounds like regret, James E. McLeod the university’s vice chancellor for students, stated that “we believe it is no longer possible for Washington University to lawfully operate this scholarship program on a race-exclusive basis.”

Well, at least it wasn’t a quota system, unless for some reason you regard a requirement of 100% blacks and 0% whites, Asians, Hispanics, etc., as a quota.

Clever ending. We need to be relentless in exposing politically correct nonsense for the blatantly discriminatory practice that it is.
